More Blabber
Along with the new season, fans are looking forward to the return of Monday Night Football. MNF began in 1970 and until 2005 it was broadcast on ABC, a major broadcast network. But in 2005, with Disney Corp. Owning ABC and ESPN, the decision was made to move MNF to cable for the first time as ESPN took over the broadcast.
Out were long time announcers Al Michaels and Jon Madden who left to go to Sunday Night Football on NBC. Current broadcasters for ESPN on Monday Night Football are Mike Tirico on play-by-play with commentators Jon Gruden, a former head coach of the Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Ron Jaworski.
The MNF season is set to begin on September 12 with two games. New England will play at Miami followed by Oakland at Denver.
